In this introductory lesson, participants will lean how to use the CPS (Classroom Performance System)to develop a quiz for students. (This can be used to assess prior knowledge prior to the lesson, as formative assessment as the unit progresses, or as a part of a summative piece.)

For this unit, I might use the CPS to assess what the students currently know about pirates prior to the unit. Feedback from this pre-assessment could be useful in designing an activity to build background knowledge.
